Vibrant Self  is an immersive and interactive installation that expands my previous explorations around the fundamental phenomena that drive the natural world—especially vibration, interconnectednes, and nature's self-organization. In this work, I substitute the object/instrument which was at the center of previous works, for the human body. By introducing the human body, the piece links non-human forces that govern everyting to the human being and human expressions and artifacts.

The installation uses the visitors’ brain vibrational activity, and their head’s muscular impulses, as instruments for music creation and interpretation. Interacting visitors listen to a musical composition that is conceived as an Audible Score, and that is composed of archive recordings such as natural and urban sound, interventions of public figures in recorded media, and music samples. These recordings are layed out in a music composition that induces different reactions in the visitor-performer, which are captured by a Brain Computer Interface. The BCI data is then used to generate soundwaves that are emitted by speakers in the exhibition space.

The visual installation uses lasers, mirrors, and difraction gradigs to make visible the sound waves emited by the speakers. Thus, manifesting visually and audibly the interacting-visitor brainwaves fluctuation and muscular responses as a kind of  vibrational environment. The installation is presented as an involuntary performance for non-interacting visitors.

Vibrant Self situates the human being within the natural structure instead of outside of it. The work exposes the inseparable relationship between nature, the human being, its socio-cultural context, and the sameness/otherness binary that defines our role and position within this world.

A hidden reality manifests as mood, action, meaning, agenda, and ideology through the human body. It emerges from the constant dialogue between the body’s natural essence and the individual’s environment, sociocultural context, and personal construct.

With this work, my goal is to contribute from within the artistic field to the contemporary debate over the fundamental structure of the natural world. I also hope to
